Apex Horizon Terminal BV offers a number of carefully engineered solutions for both transport and storage, incorporating various heating systems to suit customer requirements.

What makes our range stand out from other bitumen containers on the market is their durability and unrivalled market longevity. Designed and influenced by people directly involved in the industry, these units stand the test of time, with some units still in service over 20 years after the date of manufacture.

These units are deployed all over the world and trusted by leading industry players to meet their bitumen transportation and storage requirements.

Bitumen is a viscous substance used in various industrial and construction processes, including road construction, waterproofing, roofing material production, and more.

Here’s how road transport of bitumen typically works:

Transport: Bitumen is carried in specially designed tanks equipped with insulated and heated containers. These tanks are constructed to withstand high temperatures and the viscosity of bitumen. The containers may have internal heating systems, such as heating coils or burners, to maintain the temperature of the bitumen and prevent it from solidifying.

Loading: Bitumen is usually loaded at a bitumen storage facility or refinery. Loading can involve direct pumping operations from storage tanks using gravity or pumps. During loading, it is essential to ensure that the bitumen has the appropriate temperature for transportation.

Transportation: Loaded tanks transport the bitumen to the desired destination. The tanks are thermally insulated and often equipped with heating systems to maintain the bitumen’s temperature during transportation. Heating can be achieved through various methods, such as recirculation of hot air or steam through the tank’s heating coils.

Unloading: Upon arrival at the destination, which can be a construction site, an asphalt plant, or a bitumen storage facility, unloading takes place using a pump or gravity, depending on the specific requirements of the receiving facility. The heating systems in the tank truck can assist in the unloading process and ensure a smooth flow of bitumen.

Throughout the entire process, safety measures are crucial to prevent accidents and ensure the integrity of the bitumen. This includes regular maintenance of the tanks, compliance with transportation regulations, and proper handling of heated bitumen.
